Mysterious Man(SHORT STORY)

The sun was high in the sky, it had several stripes of colors intertwined creating a vast array of delight. I was strolling around a marketplace. It was the first day of Trepenzum festival, the most important one in the town. This festival symbolized the victory achieved in the battle of mighty, that happened hundreds of years ago. The lights were set up on the pillars and on top of stone walls. I enjoyed looking at the decorations. The crowds of people were busy buying and selling different exotic things. There were all kinds of delicacies in many stalls. Every part of the market had smells of fish, beer, kebabs and sweet pastries. I saw silver stalls, cake stalls, seed stalls, and all the ornaments. The fragrance of jasmine hung loosely in the air among the baskets and plant pots.  In the center of the stalls, people were dancing to the melodious music of lyre and drums. The song of the troubadour made me reminisce the olden days. The children were gleefully huddled up against th

A Windy Day on March 28th [POEM]

A subtle cloudy weather, dark and downcast Wind sweeps in with a speed so vast Devoid of any radiance, rages and hurls A tranquil city up in whirls The rumbling and roar of the gust A city covered in the cloud of dust The violent dance of trees and shiver Ruffles up the flying leaves, hither and thither Then rain showers, with thunder Windswept desolate city remains in surrender The slow motion of all coming to an end With a sheer hope of incandescence  - Sris <3 # A memory of March 28th

A Love That Resurrects Me [Poem]

Past love, Past romance Nothing special Nothing endearing Than the majestic love you bestow Your love seeps into my soul And lights me up Like the glimmer of a thousand stars And leaves a aromatic scent of ecstasy A loyalty that lingers Despite my rude and selfish reasons A heart that gets injured But radiates a warm glow When you decide to leave I will be the world’s poorest For I have lost, the precious treasure - A love that resurrects me A love that resurrects me by Sristi #Kitkat #HunnyBoo

My Experience of Nepal Earthquake 2015

I had heard often about the earthquake that happened back in 1934 in Nepal. Yes, it was the most devastating natural disaster to take place. And we were kind of expecting for a big earthquake like that to happen again. It was already predicted to happen after several decades later. So, it took place again after 82 years. 1934's earthquake was of 8.1 magnitude while 2015's , recent one is of 7.8 magnitude. It was bit less magnitude than the one of 1934 but it did bring a lot of destruction and chaos. It was April 25th. I had woken up very early that morning to study for my exam, I woke up around 3 am and prepared. I attended my exam at 7 am. Then later I returned home. The time was 11:30, I was relaxed at my home, I drank a glass of juice and laid down to rest for a while. Then at 11:56 am, suddenly I could feel everything around me shaking. I knew immediately that it was an earthquake. This was my 3rd experience of earthquake in Nepal. But none were violent like this one. I r

Are standardized tests good way to measure student's mastery of course material?

I extremely disagree that standardized tests are good option to evaluate the student’s knowledge of the course material. Are standardized tests fair and helpful evaluation tools? Do tests reflect current knowledge about how students learn? Do multiple-choice or short-answer tests measure important student achievement? Are test scores "reliable"?Test driven, or force-fed, learning can not enrich and promote the traits necessary for life success. John Holt, in his essay “School is bad for children” says that school makes the student less curious and less resourceful. I agree with this point because  before children start their formal education, they are more independent and likely to be creative. The school makes them think in a monotonous way, by instilling the lie that, they should follow the standard steps and the test scores are what really matter. Besides that, John Holt argues that school enforces the idea on students that being wrong is crime and they should only run a

Despicable Impostress

She’s the typical kind of girl you’d see. All drawn out and colorfully coated into the divulging atmosphere and circumstances of real life. She seems on the outside to be a competitive, talented and intelligent girl who can pull off anything bravely but inside, she’s someone else. She knows quite well that she is making others believe what she is not, but it doesn’t seem to bother her at all. Others around her buy her lies too, and get charmed by her little hop, skip and a jump.  She wants to appear dauntless and sophisticated. Her appearance is noteworthy. She ties her hair into pigtails. She’s always dressed-up in feminine colors, like pink, purple or vermilion. She has a funny accent. She snorts loudly when she finds something humorous. She has a pale complexion and handful of freckles on her face. She lets loose of the curls in the front part of her face, hiding the clear vicinity of her face, and the deep blue eyes. The sparkles in her eyes always seem to be dancing a melodious
