A Walk-through of Despair (Poem by Sristi)

Hesitation to walk through the winding paths,
Infuriated fate follows sharply through the hollow trees,
Fire sets and engulfs the teak trees,
Cracked, moth-eaten, ash-coated  branches,
Stranded on a dead island,
Burning mist and despairing dreams.

Loathing, mad and lonely,
The magnolias cast a deep graven shadow,
Cryptic messages that cross through the mind,
Fade and desolate the atmosphere.

Powerless and startled at the terror of occurrences,
Chipped and frosted lips,
Even the apathetic weather
Storms down into a chill shower
The aversion isn’t quite avoidable
When all you opt for
Is what you shouldn’t settle upon.
